Background
Modo Yoga started out as a hot yoga franchise in Canada, scaling to 75 locations within just 10 years.
Continuing their dedication to wellbeing, the team expanded their offering to launch an online store for their studio clients. As demand grew, they added a B2C branch and now serve a hybrid customer base as North America’s go-to premium supplier.

The challenge
Modo Yoga sell to both B2B and B2C audiences via their online store. Adding a retail division to their offering has meant they need a way to separate pricing, products, and audiences.
The business had explored several eCommerce platforms but required a setup that enabled promotions and incentives. Free shipping is offered based on order values, and building these discounts without causing issues on the B2C side was proving a challenge.
The team also required a way to ensure correct pricing for their wholesale customers across Canadian and US markets - without taking time away from their team to manually reconcile this for each order.
The solution
Modo Yoga use SparkLayer to build price lists relevant to their customers, from location to currency. This has simplified the ordering process for their B2B buyers and has reduced reliance on the support team to respond to pricing queries.
Additionally, SparkLayer supports the business’ goal of running promotions and incentives - something they were previously unable to offer. “Being able to offer incentives is important, and our previous setup didn't roll nicely with that at all”, Nava Dabby, Chief Operations Officer.
The team have built out order rules that allow them to meet customer expectations while maintaining strong profits and operational efficiency. These include minimum order quantities, which customers must meet before being able to check out. They have also configured rules for free shipping once a threshold is met.
SparkLayer’s Sales Agent tool is being leveraged for customers who require more support. The team can populate a basket and send it to the customer for approval. On top of this, the team are making the most of SparkLayer’s native invoicing tool to streamline their B2B operational processes.
The results
Modo Yoga have seen significant time savings since implementing SparkLayer, cutting weekly hours spent on manual admin tasks by 50%. This has allowed the team to spend more time on activities that support scaling the business.
By empowering their B2B customers to become self-sufficient in terms of ordering, there is less reliance on the sales team. Additionally, the number of wholesale customer complaints has dropped to zero.
As the business opens new studios, Modo Yoga are now able to offer set lists of items for them to buy. This acts as a proactive and welcoming onboarding process to ensure each new franchise has everything they need.
“Now that SparkLayer has been set up, it's running on its own. The onboarding team did everything for me, like putting in the B2B page and setting up the basics, so that I could just go in and add the price list. It was pretty simple and worked right out of the gate. We were live in 2 days, and there was no downtime." ~ Nava Dabby, Chief Operations Officer
